Move your meeting library
You can move your meeting library to another folder, for example into OneDrive or an Obsidian vault. MeetCap copies every file and checks it, then switches to the new location.
Move the library
Section titled “Move the library”- Open Settings and click General.
- Under Meetings, click Change next to Location.
- Choose the new folder.
- Check what will move, then click Move.
Settings shows the progress under Location, then how many meetings it moved. If the library has no meetings yet, MeetCap switches without asking.
What moves
Section titled “What moves”- The notes and transcripts of every meeting
- The people MeetCap knows, and the glossary
- The library’s settings
Recordings stay where they are on this computer. Files in the old folder that aren’t part of the library stay there too.
Schedules that record into this library follow it to the new location.
Choose the new folder
Section titled “Choose the new folder”The new folder can be empty, new, or already have other files in it, such as an Obsidian vault. The library goes beside those files, and nothing is overwritten.
MeetCap doesn’t move the library if:
- The new folder already has a file or folder with the same name as one being moved. Move that item somewhere else first.
- The new folder is inside the library.
- A meeting is being recorded or processed, or its minutes are being written. Try again when it’s done.
If anything goes wrong while moving, MeetCap stops, and the library stays where it was.
Use another library instead
Section titled “Use another library instead”If the folder you choose is already a meeting library, MeetCap asks whether to use it instead. Click Use This Library to switch.
The meetings in your current library don’t move. They stay in the old folder, and the two libraries aren’t merged.
If MeetCap can’t find your library
Section titled “If MeetCap can’t find your library”If the library folder was moved or renamed in Finder, or its disk isn’t connected, MeetCap says it can’t find your meeting library. Click Choose folder, then choose the library in its new location.
To move the library, use Change in Settings instead of Finder. MeetCap then checks every file and updates your schedules.
From Terminal
Section titled “From Terminal”meetcap setup --move-library ~/Documents/Meetingsmeetcap setup --move-library ~/Documents/Meetings --confirmWithout --confirm, MeetCap only says how many meetings would move, how much space they take, and the old and new locations. Add --confirm to move them.
To switch to a library that already exists without moving anything, run meetcap setup --library with its folder.
For a library in OneDrive or another cloud folder, see Files in the cloud.
