Write minutes and change their language
After each meeting, an AI corrects the transcript and writes the minutes: Executive summary, Recap, and Next steps. The same AI writes the summaries during the meeting. You choose what writes them, and you can get the minutes in Chinese, English, or both.
Choose what writes the minutes
Section titled “Choose what writes the minutes”- Open Settings and click Minutes.
- Under Choose how to use MeetCap, select Set it up yourself. MeetCap account is not available yet.
- Under Write summaries and minutes with, choose one of the options below.
Changes apply to future meetings.
- Your own API key. Use your own key for an OpenAI-compatible service or the Claude API. Enter the endpoint and the API key, click Test connection, then choose a model. Before saving, MeetCap asks you to agree that transcript text is sent to that endpoint. The API key is stored only on this computer.
- Your agent, run by MeetCap. MeetCap runs an agent on this computer in the background, such as Claude Code, Codex, or Qoder. Choose the agent. You can leave Model and Reasoning effort at Default. Click Try it to check that it works. Under Folder access, click Allow so the agent can read your files to get names and terms right.
- Your agent, when you ask it. Ask your agent for the minutes in its own chat window. MeetCap won’t start it for you. See Use MeetCap with your agent.
- This computer. A local model writes them on this computer. The transcript text stays here, and you don’t need an agent or an API key. After a long meeting, the minutes take a while to be ready, and they’re less accurate than with the other options, so check figures, names and decisions before you rely on them. If the model isn’t downloaded yet, click Download below the option. MeetCap selects This computer and downloads the model. See This computer.
With every option, recordings stay on this computer. To see what text goes where, read Ways to write minutes, and your privacy.
Your agent, run by MeetCap
Section titled “Your agent, run by MeetCap”MeetCap can run these agents:
Antigravity, Claude Code, CodeArts, CodeBuddy, Codex, Copilot CLI, Cursor, DevEco Code, Dim, Grok Build, Hermes, Kimi Code, Kiro CLI, MiniMax Code, Oh‑My‑Pi, OpenClaw, OpenCode, Pi, Qoder, Qoder CN, Qwen Code, Reasonix, TRAE CLI, ZeroClaw
New versions of MeetCap add agents to this list. The Agent menu shows the ones that are on this computer. If your agent isn’t there, install it, then open Settings › Minutes again. If your agent is dimmed, update it to the version shown under its name.
If your agent isn’t in this list but can load skills, choose Your agent, when you ask it. See Use MeetCap with your agent.
MeetCap asks most agents which models and reasoning effort levels they offer, so new models on your account appear without a MeetCap update. For other agents, or if an agent can’t answer (for example, because you aren’t signed in to it), MeetCap shows its own list. Choose Default to use the agent’s own setting.
For what each setting does, see Settings.
This computer
Section titled “This computer”You can record while the local model downloads. MeetCap writes the summaries and minutes once it’s ready.
While the local model writes the minutes, the minutes column shows which part it’s writing and about how long is left. For the trade-offs of this option and how much disk space the model uses, see Ways to write minutes, and your privacy.
To delete the local model:
- In Settings › Minutes, choose another option.
- Click Delete local model below This computer. MeetCap shows how much space will be freed.
- Click Delete.
You can’t delete the local model while it’s writing a summary or minutes. Deleting the model doesn’t affect summaries and minutes you already have. If you choose This computer again, MeetCap downloads the local model again.
When the minutes are ready
Section titled “When the minutes are ready”If MeetCap writes the minutes, a notification says Minutes ready. Click it to open the meeting. While they’re being written, the minutes column says Writing the minutes.
If you chose Your agent, when you ask it, the notification says Transcript ready. The minutes column shows the sentence to say to your agent, such as “Write the minutes for Weekly sync.” Click Copy this sentence and paste it in your agent’s chat.
Write the minutes again
Section titled “Write the minutes again”After you name speakers or add terms to the glossary, you can have the minutes written again.
- Open the meeting in the meeting window.
- Click Regenerate to the right of the minutes heading.
The current minutes stay until the new ones are ready. If you chose Your agent, when you ask it, MeetCap shows a sentence to copy instead.
Get the minutes in the other language
Section titled “Get the minutes in the other language”The minutes are in the language set in Settings › General › Language. The transcript stays in the language spoken.
- Open the meeting in the meeting window.
- At the top, click English or 中文.
- Click Write English minutes or Write Chinese minutes.
MeetCap translates the minutes you already have. Both versions stay, and you can switch between them. If you chose Your agent, when you ask it, ask your agent instead, for example “Write the English minutes for Weekly sync.”
To get both languages after every meeting, turn on Write minutes in both Chinese and English in Settings › Minutes. This uses the AI one more time for each meeting.
Summaries during the meeting
Section titled “Summaries during the meeting”A summary appears every 5 minutes. To change how often, choose 2, 3, 5, 10, or 15 minutes next to Summarize every in Settings › Minutes.
If you chose Your agent, when you ask it, tell your agent “Summarize the meeting so far.” If your agent can run on a schedule, it writes one at the interval you set.
To read the summaries after the meeting, click Summaries at the top of the minutes column.
Get names and terms right
Section titled “Get names and terms right”To make sure names and terms are spelled right in transcripts and minutes, add them in Settings › Glossary. See Get names and terms right with the glossary.
If the minutes couldn’t be written
Section titled “If the minutes couldn’t be written”The minutes column says The minutes couldn’t be written and why. Fix what it says, then click Try again. If a setting is wrong, click Open Minutes Settings.
If there’s no internet connection, the minutes column says No internet connection. MeetCap doesn’t write these minutes later by itself. When you’re back online, click Write English minutes or Write Chinese minutes in the minutes column. See Common errors.
